The Rutgers University Police Department is proud to announce the addition of 14 new police officers. The officers graduated on December 16, 2021, from the Camden County Police Academy and on January 14, from the Cape May Police Academy.
Of the 14, Newark welcomes five new officers: Police Officer Gaetano Fernandes, #9057, received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware. Prior to his appointment to Rutgers, Officer Fernandes was employed as a 911 Telecommunicator and a Class 1 Special Police Officer with the Paramus Police Department. He also served as a Volunteer Firefighter with the Paramus Fire Department.
Police Officer Jay Mandal, #9062, graduated from Essex County College with an Associate’s in Science. He attended the Essex County College Public Safety Academy in 2018 as an alternate route candidate. He was employed as an Uber driver prior to his appointment as a police officer.
Police Officer Andrew Kim, #9046, graduated from Rutgers University in 2017 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. His most recent employment was as a recruiter for Elgen Staffing; he also worked as a manager for many years at his family’s business, Halal Mama, in Newark.
Police Officer Angel Martinez, #9047, graduated from Middlesex County College with an Associate’s Degree. Prior to his appointment as a police officer, he was a Group Manager for Allstate Sales Group.
Police Officer Hamza Masri, #9049, graduated from Clifton High School and became a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). Prior to his appointment to Rutgers, he worked for the NJ EMS Task Force.
New Brunswick welcomes seven new officers: Police Officer Matthew Finnegan, #9063, graduated from Brookdale Community College with an Associate’s Degree. He was previously employed as a Special Class 2 Officer for the Monmouth Beach Police Department. He attended the Monmouth County Police Academy two-week Accelerated Police Officer Certification program.
Police Officer Ritik Bedi, #9040, graduated from The College of New Jersey with a Bachelor’s of Science. Prior to his appointment as a police officer, he was an EMT for Monroe Township’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS).
Police Officer Alexander Honegger, #9044, graduated from Raritan Valley Community College with an Associate’s Degree. Prior to his appointment to Rutgers, he was an Assistant Manager for Blimpie/Surf City Squeeze.
Police Officer Richard McNulty, #9050, graduated with a Master’s Degree from the Rutgers University School of Social Work and attained a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from John Jay College. Prior to his appointment as a police officer, he was a Maintenance Worker at Our Lady of Mt. Virgin Church.
Police Officer Peter Mosko, #9051, graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Rutgers University. Prior to his appointment to Rutgers, he was a Communications Officer for the Mount Olive Police Department. He also served as a Volunteer Firefighter for Lebanon Borough Fire Company.
Police Officer Victoria Olexsa, #9052, graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor’s Degree. Prior to her appointment, she was a teacher’s assistant at the Apple Montessori School in Edison.
Police Officer Nicolette Tufano, #9055, graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor’s Degree. During her time at Rutgers, she was a Community Service Officer. Her most recent assignment was to the Office of Emergency Management.
Camden welcomes two new officers from the incoming group. Police Officer Tristan Cadet, #9041, attended Mercer County Community College and obtained his EMT certification from RWJ Barnabas Health EMT Program. Prior to his appointment as a police officer, he was employed as an EMT for Princeton EMS and Rescue.
Police Officer Edwin Serrano, #9053, graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor’s Degree. Prior to joining RUPD, he worked for the New Brunswick Board of Education.
Police Officer Bedi received the High Academic Award and Police Officer Cadet received the Firearms Award. Congratulations to both officers on their achievements and welcome to all of our new officers.
