Biomedical Engineering Spearheads Self-driving Lab
Rutgers Biomedical Engineering building is almost 85,000 GSF. It opened in 2007. The brick, steel, and glass building features large open lab spaces, offices, and ample conference space. IP&O employees assigned to the building include Foreperson Custodial Services, Ferdinand Mark Lorenzo; Group Leader, Julio Balazar; Custodians, Yikaury Castillo and Martiza Almanzar.
Inside, Professor Adam Gormley leads the Gormley Lab where he and his students are working hard to bring automation to science. Gormley is a pioneer in this area, and he and a handful of scientists around the country hope to assemble the first conference on “self- driving labs”, as this area of automation begins to change science and the life of the scientist.
Let’s peer into Professor Gormley’s space and see how it aids his research and teaching.
