High-purity ethanol (200 and 190 proof) used in research laboratories is regulated by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB). A TTB permit is required to order ethanol at these purities. Rutgers holds two TTB permits, one in New Brunswick and one in Newark. Specific buildings on the Camden campus and off-site research centers are listed under the New Brunswick permit.
The New Brunswick permit is centrally managed through the Chemistry Department at the Chemistry and Chemical Biology (CCB) building on Busch campus. The Newark permit is managed through the Chemistry Department at Olson Hall.
To purchase ethanol through the New Brunswick Chemistry Department, a RIAS IPO is required. Be sure to include the following information in your request:

- Quantity

REHS provides delivery of high-purity ethanol when 5 gallon or 55 gallon container sizes are ordered. Delivery of ethanol by REHS is contingent on proper DOT approved containers. Nalgene containers are not appropriate for this application.
