Visitors are defined by the University as individuals or groups who are traveling into campus for an activity or special event. All visitors must have a visitor permit to park on campus.

Department One-day permit is a day permit provided by university departments to invited guests, for permission to park on campus. Faculty, Staff, and Students are not permitted to use Department One-day permit and must park according to their permit category. Any unauthorized use will be subject to a $100.00 citation for fraudulent use of permission. This permission is for visitor use only (person not affiliated with Rutgers University).
Department representative must complete the request form in advance, to order Department One-day permits, and for any permit items with a fee, attach a copy of the purchase order: Submit a One-Day Parking Permit FormDepartment One-day permits will be added to the department parking account and will be valid for the semester of the order date. The designated department administrator can assign the permit to a visitor and must include the vehicle license plate and email address of the invited guest.
Each campus has designated parking locations and a Rutgers Marketplace item number for Department One-day permits with a charged fee.Rutgers New Brunswick
Department One-day permissions are allowed to park in any common faculty/staff lot in the New Brunswick campus, except in College Ave campus where permit is only allowed to park in Lot 26, Lot 30, and College Ave Deck only.
There is no charge for New Brunswick Department One-day permit and can be issued by the department to a visitor for the initial campus visit. Visitor must register for a daily visitor permission for any succeeding campus visit.RBHS Piscataway and Newark
In both Piscataway and Newark campuses of RBHS, parking is allowed in any common faculty/staff lots only (parking decks excluded) with a RBHS Department One-day permission.
When requesting a purchase order for RBHS Department One-day permissions from the Rutgers Marketplace, select item number #3623. If required in the Purchase Order form, the 5-digit GL string for Parking is 74105
Rutgers Newark
Department One-day permit for the Newark campus can park at Deck 3 and Eagle East lot (509A).
The Newark Department One-Day permit is item number #920 in the Rutgers Marketplace. If required in the Purchase Order form, the 5-digit GL string for Parking is 74105.
Rutgers Camden
Camden Department One-day permit can park at Lot C1, C2, C3, C14, City Lot 15, or City Lot 16.The item number for the Camden Department One-day perm is #620 in the Rutgers Marketplace. If required in the Purchase Order form, the 5-digit GL string for Parking is 74105.

Non-Affiliate permits are issued to service providers or vendors authorized to do business with the University as consultants or other professional services (e.g. research, administration, or support services) in areas such as:
- Rutgers University Foundation
- Student Center
- Rutgers Bookstore
- RU Federal Credit Union
- Campus Ministries verified by the Vice President of Student Affairs
- External Interns or Volunteers
- ROTC staff members
Non-affiliates must provide proof of eligibility and must be verified to purchase the Non-affiliate permission. Supporting documentation from the university department and organization such as a letter from the hiring department or purchase order agreement with the University can be submitted as proof.
The annual cost of a Non-affiliate permit is $300, semi-annual $150 and monthly $30. Contact us at dotshelp@rutgers.edu to apply for the permit. - Gated Lots & Deck Access (For Non-affiliate Annual Permit Holders Only)

For New Brunswick: Key Cards are available for purchase for common gated lots, College Ave. Lot 16 (accessible to TA/GA starting 4pm on weekdays), Busch Lot 55 and Douglass Lot 79A. Assigned Lots and NBPA Decks must be approved for access before submitting a request. Keycards will be mailed upon verification of active permit and access approval in restricted lots and/or decks. Complete Keycard Request Form to place a request for a new or replacement keycard.
For Rutgers and RBHS Newark: Keycard access to the RBHS Newark Decks, P1, P2 and DOC3, have been discontinued. We are transitioning to a new gate access technology using License Plate Recognition (LPR), to grant you entry and exit of the parking decks. In the interim, active permit holders assigned to park at the decks will have access, and enforcement will remain in place at all times. Upon transition completion, LPR will validate access to eligible permit holders with a mobile app program as a backup system. Permit holders will be notified of deployment status and any further information.
- Family Housing Parking Permit - for Faculty/Staff Spouse Student Spouses

During scheduled Football and Basketball game sessions, parking operates as Game Day parking wherein select parking locations on campus are managed by the Athletics Department of Rutgers University and may be facilitated by external vendors.
